I just watched Saw II two nights ago... It's always fun to rewatch that movie.

Seeing the reveal of Amanda as the new apprentice is still awesome...

It is. I'm still ticked we never got to truly see her as Jigsaw, but perhaps Saw VI will remedy that and in a way nobody will expect.

the nerve gas house gets a lot of flack for underdeveloped characters, but i thought they were developed quite well.

They were developed just enough imo.
We were told enough to gain a basic understanding of each character, without it being overkill.

Besides, the lack of character development was compensated through John and Eric's development.

..i love Saw II Smile

IMO, II is the most perfect out of the entire series.

It's definitely the most epic-feeling movie of the series for me.

Saw 1 and 3 are the two movies that I can watch completely without feeling the need of skipping any scene.

There's only one scene that I always want to skip in Saw II... and it's the furnace trap. Everybody panicking is realistic... but annoying to watch IMO. zD

There aren't really any skipworthy scenes for me in Saw II, and it's pretty much the only Saw film where I feel I can sit through the entire thing without feeling the need to skip a scene.

Pretty much the only thing I'd below the other movies while talking about Saw II is its score (which is still fucking amazing tbh)

I was so annoyed at the change made to the music track during Xavier's neck-cutting scene on the uncut DVD. Grr, the music made that scene work great.

I can watch II over and over again without skipping scenes.
the original gets boring after ahile if im not in the mood to watch it.
and the rest i always skip scenes, but II is just perfect.
It has a great feel to it, and it keeps me interested everytime.

I love you

I find II to be easily the most rewatchable and entertaining of the series, and the only one I feel I can watch on any occasion.

The first Saw is great but not very rewatchable on it's own unless viewed as a double feature with II, and III-V pretty much rely on each other for progression. II is the one that stands alone and can be watched on it's own.

I still think the first one is the most rewatchable... I blame nostalgia.

Saw II also has a very unique atmosphere that I can't quite describe..but it's great anyways.
John's conversation with Eric throughout the film is insanely memorable, and made Jigsaw a modern Hannibal Lecter. I feel his character became iconic in between Saw II and III, and II has something I liked very much that wasn't in the others all that much: Jigsaw's evil chuckle when he speaks to his subjects in person (Eric), or through a tape (Xavier, Michael).
Really chilling.

Jigsaw is so commanding in this film and at the top of his game. Definitely Tobin's best performance, IMO. The scenes where he converses with Eric are great psychological bits that perfectly compliment the carnage inside the Traphouse.

I agree about Tobin's preformance to an extent, I felt this was his best preformance tied with Saw IV.
Donnie was perfect for the role of Matthews, he really made that buildup of rage and anxiety believable and powerful.

It's arguable if Saw II is more Tobin or Donnie's movie, they both did their roles amazingly great. Donnie is as irreplacable as Eric as Tobin, Shawnee and Costas are as John, Amanda and Hoffman.
